High Frequency Words

In kindergarten, students will learn to read the 90 high frequency words listed below. We will call them “popcorn words” since they “pop up” in almost every book we read! Students will typically be given 3 new words per week. Students will be informally assessed weekly on their knowledge of all the words they have been given. Report cards will reflect the words cumulatively as outlined below. During marking periods 2-4, students will also be assessed on the spelling of the first 24 words (the marking period 1 and 2 words).
