Mr. David Burkett, Superintendent
David A. Burkett is a graduate from Claysburg-Kimmel High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Secondary Education Social Studies in 1998. Mr. Burkett began his career at Northern Bedford County School District in 2001, as a Social Studies teacher. He obtained his Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University in 2003. Mr. Burkett continued on with his studies through Gannon University and received his Principal certification in 2005. Mr. Burkett served as the Assistant High School Principal from 2005 to 2010. In May 2010, he obtained the position of High School Principal. Most recently, Mr. Burkett has become Fannett-Metal’s newest Superintendent.
Mr. David Zula, HS/MS Principal
I am pleased to join the staff as the Fannett-Metal Middle/High School Principal. I had earned my Bachelor’s of Art Degree from Wilkes University in Political Science and Elementary Education in 1999. My teaching career began at Minersville Area School District as an Elementary Teacher from 1999-2004. I continued my teaching career at Tamaqua Area School District as an Elementary Teacher from 2004-2006. I obtained my Masters of Science Degree in Educational Leadership, along with my principal’s certification from Wilkes University in 2006. My administrative career started as an Assistant Elementary Principal, Assistant Middle School Principal and later as Elementary Principal at Blue Mountain School District from 2006-2016. I received my Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from Shippensburg University in 2015. I am excited to be a member of the Fannett-Metal family as we continue to build successful students for the future!
Mrs. Stephanie Shoemaker, Elementary Principal
I am Stephanie Shoemaker, the Fannett-Metal Elementary School Principal. I have worked in the district for over twenty years teaching in kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grade classrooms; also serving as a reading specialist and literacy coach and now the elementary principal. I graduated from the Fannett-Metal High School and pursued a career in education. I attended Shippensburg University where I earned my Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education degrees as well as my Reading Specialist, Reading Supervisory, Principal, and Superintendent certifications. I am thrilled to work along side Pre-K – 5th grade teachers to enhance student learning and achievement. This is going to be a GRRREAT year at FMES!!
