David A. Burkett is a graduate from Claysburg-Kimmel High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Secondary Education Social Studies in 1998. Mr. Burkett began his career at Northern Bedford County School District in 2001, as a Social Studies teacher. He obtained his Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University in 2003. Mr. Burkett continued on with his studies through Gannon University and received his Principal certification in 2005. Mr. Burkett served as the Assistant High School Principal from 2005 to 2010. In May 2010, he obtained the position of High School Principal. Most recently, Mr. Burkett has become Fannett-Metal’s newest Superintendent.

 

Mr. Todd Best, HS/MS Principal

I am Todd Best, the Fannett-Metal Middle/High School Prinicpal.  I am a 2002 graduate of the Fannett-Metal High School.  After high school, I attended Shippensburg University where I graduated with a BS in Biology with Secondary Certification.  I also completed my Master’s to obtain my Principal Certification from Shippensburg Univeristy in December 2011.  In August of 2006, I was hired by the Fannett-Metal School District as a secondary science teacher; I continued this rewarding work until July 2019 when I transitioned into the middle/high school principal role.  I have helped coach the baseball and soccer teams, and I am currently the head varsity coach of the girls’ basketball program.  I live within the district with my wife, Lori, and our three children, Ryan, Andrew, and Katie. I look forward to working with each student to help them achieve academic success and support them in their many endeavors.

 

Mrs. Stephanie Shoemaker, Elementary Principal

I am Stephanie Shoemaker, the Fannett-Metal Elementary School Principal. I have worked in the district for over twenty-five years teaching in kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grade classrooms; also serving as a reading specialist and literacy coach and now the elementary principal. I graduated from the Fannett-Metal High School and pursued a career in education. I attended Shippensburg University where I earned my Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education degrees as well as my Reading Specialist, Reading Supervisory, Principal, and Superintendent certifications. I am thrilled to work along side Pre-K – 5th grade teachers to enhance student learning and achievement. This is going to be a GRRREAT year at FMES!!
