Welcome to Mrs. McMath’s school counseling webpage! I am the school counselor for grades K-5.  As a school counselor, I have the joy of supporting students in their academic, career and personal /social development by working with them during guidance lessons provided in the 6-day cycle, in small groups, or during individual counseling sessions. The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop their academic self-concept and feelings of competence and confidence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups and family. I strive to encourage a positive developmental process and make important, age-appropriate connections between education and career/work standards in accordance with Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards.

I also collaborate with school staff and parents to best meet the individual needs of our students. My goal is to provide students, families and teachers with a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program that follows the model established by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA).
