Students in 4th grade are finishing up their science unit on water.  Students completed an investigation to show how they could put water to work.  Students drew their ideas of how they thought they could put water to work. After looking at several of the plans that were made, they decided to make a waterwheel. They discussed how a waterwheel works.  They used materials to represent a blade, a shaft, and an axle.  They used a binder clip as the object the waterwheel would move.  They used water in a syringe to make the water move the wheel to move the binder clip.  They had a great time making the waterwheels and seeing they could use water for work!!
